Install The Granite Countertops Yourself

Pick up orders will be cut based upon your specifications. You will be responsible for the final dimensions and a legible shop ticket. In addition, this ticket must be signed. For pick up orders, we will only be obligated to fabricate what you specify.

While working on a shop ticket, keep in mind that slabs vary in size. Your counter top may be longer than the length of slab. In this case, it may be necessary to seam your counters together. Please note that locations of seams may create odd shapes and affect the final cost. Overall, seaming is fairly common. Factory Plaza offer’s epoxy kits for $25 and a complementary color tube for each seam. The effectiveness of the color match of your seam varies depending on the color pattern of the stone selected.

If you decide that you will not be using a sink supplied by Factory Plaza then you will also be responsible for purchasing the correct sink for your project. Keep in mind that sinks are designed for different applications. If you would like an under mount sink, make sure the sink that you purchase is designed to be mounted under granite. The same goes for top mount sinks. Factory Plaza cannot guarantee problem free fabrication and installation if an incorrect sink is purchased. You will also be responsible for supplying the correct template. You should take time to make sure that the company supplied the correct template with your sink. Finally, The front edge of this template should be clearly marked as well.   

Granite can be picked up Mon - Fri. between the hours of 9 and 4. It may also be picked up on Sat., from 9 to 12. When arriving to pick up your order, we ask that you inspect the size and color of your order. After material is inspected, you will be signing a form stating your approval. In the event that we committed errors, it would then be your responsibility to bring the piece back to our facility to be corrected, at no charge. In the event the error was due to the purchaser there may be charges to rectify the situation.  

Because of liability issues, Factory Plaza staff will not be able to assist you in loading your pieces. Granite is extremely heavy and we strongly recommend that you bring help with you on your pick up date. Extremely large pieces need to be loaded in an open top vehicle and in these cases use of the forklift can be arranged in advance.

We recommend that granite be carried in a vertical position. Never lay granite flat. In addition it should be firmly secured to an “A” frame with straps and/or “C” clamps. We are not responsible for any issues that may arise during transport and installation.  Finally, There are no returns or refunds with any pick up order.

Remember, we will be fabricating what you specify. While working on your shop ticket, please keep the following in mind:
1. We will not be adding overhangs to the dimensions you specify. Please indicate the actual size of the pieces we will be fabricating.
2. The edges are marked with an “X” if they will be finished. They are marked with an “O” if a backsplash will be placed there. They are marked with a “=” if the edge is next to an appliance. Unmarked edges will be treated as a wall and will be ignored.
3. There are boxes on the top of the page specifying, color, contact info., edge profiles, etc…, please make sure that these are ALL completed according to your specifications.
4. We will also need to know how many faucet holes your project will require. These will be centered evenly unless otherwise specified.
5. It is important that we know the location of the center of the sink. This must be indicated on the drawing.
6. The preliminary drawing may not have all the dimensions. These may or may not be marked with a broken arrow. If you see an arrow without a number, we ask that you fill these dimensions in.
7. An X______________ has been placed on the shop ticket, we ask that when you are satisfied with your shop ticket, you sign on this line to express your satisfaction with the shop ticket. We reserve the right to reject any unsigned shop tickets.
8. Seams may or may not have been added to your shop ticket. It is your responsibility to specify the location of these.
